WCC 2015

The World Canal Conference was from September 7-10. On day 1, following the conference opening and first afternoon of presentations in the aula of the University of Ghent, we made a boat trip on the canals and rivers of Ghent, followed by a nice opening dinner in the Ghent Marriott Hotel in the center of the city. On day 2 we finished the day with a boat trip through the port of Ghent to the new lock in Terneuzen (Netherlands). See http://nieuwesluisterneuzen.eu/. On day 3 we went to the lock project in Harelbeke (see http://www.sbe.be/en/news/construction-weir-harelbeke-belgium), and that evening we had the gala dinner in the Ghent Opera house. Day 4, the last day, we went by bus to the Westhoek, where we had the closing ceremony in Casino Koksijde. This was followed by a great lunch and a bus tour to the cities of Veurne and Nieuwpoort.
